What if a destination could sell its story the same way a sneaker store sells culture? For Visit Milwaukee, I developed a concept that reimagined the traditional trade show booth as a fully immersive sneaker boutique. Inspired by the city's collaboration with adidas, sneaker creator Shake James, and Summerfest, the idea was to transform a conventional exhibition space into a retail-inspired experience where visitors could discover and purchase limited-edition sneakers. Rather than simply telling people what makes Milwaukee special, the concept invited them to experience a piece of its culture firsthand.
I envisioned a two-story, modular retail environment built around the energy of sneaker culture, combining industrial architecture, curated product displays, and welcoming spaces for interaction. The concept challenged the expectations of destination marketing by replacing traditional promotional messaging with an experience rooted in fashion, music, community, and commerce. Because sometimes the most compelling way to market a destination isn't to tell people why they should visit. It's to give them something they want to be part of.
